The pattern

One high and one low daily with around a foot and a half of range — the classic northern Gulf pattern. The sound’s oyster bars and the river mouth run their own rhythm behind the barrier islands.

Oysters and redfish

Apalachicola Bay’s oysters are legendary — the bars work the tide’s rhythm. Redfish and speckled trout haunt the grass flats and creek mouths; the passes give up tarpon in season.

Boating

The bay is shallow outside the marks — mind the bars at low water. St. George Island’s back side is the sheltered route. For the wider Gulf, see our Gulf Coast tide guide.
