The pattern
Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around eight feet of range. The harbor entrance runs current on the change; the ocean beaches fish the tide’s rhythm under the surf.
Salmon and crab
Grays Harbor’s fall salmon runs — kings and coho — push through the harbor on the tides. Dungeness crab pots soak the harbor and nearshore; the surf beaches give up perch and the occasional steelhead.
Boating
The Grays Harbor bar is a serious ocean entrance — check the bar report with the tide. Inside, the harbor’s channels are the working waterfront. For the region, see our Pacific Northwest tide guide.
