South Padre Island Tide Chart
South Padre Island — Texas’ southernmost beach town — fishes a small diurnal Gulf tide between the Laguna Madre and the open Gulf, with the Brazos Santiago Pass jetties as its fishing landmark.

The pattern
One high and one low daily with about a foot and a half of range. The hypersaline Laguna Madre fishes its own rhythm — wind often moves more water than the tide — while the jetties run current on the change.
Laguna Madre and the jetties
The lagoon’s grass flats hold redfish and speckled trout year-round — classic Texas sight-fishing. The jetties give up snook, tarpon, and snapper, and the surf fishes pompano and shark in the troughs.
Boating the passes
Brazos Santiago Pass is the Gulf gateway — mind the current on the change and the Brownsville Ship Channel traffic. The lagoon’s flats go skinny at low water. For the wider Gulf, see our Gulf Coast tide guide.
