Port Aransas, Texas Tide Chart

Port Aransas — the ‘Fishing Capital of Texas’ on Mustang Island — fishes a small diurnal Gulf tide through Aransas Pass, the deep-water gateway to some of Texas’ best inshore and offshore water.

The pattern

One high and one low daily with about a foot and a half of range. The pass and the ship channel run current on the change; the back bays and flats fish the tide’s rhythm more than its size.

Inshore and offshore

Redfish and speckled trout haunt the flats, Lydia Ann Channel, and the bay shorelines; tarpon roll through the pass in summer — the town’s historic fishery. Offshore, the jetties and nearshore rigs hold snapper, kingfish, and cobia.

Ferries and boating

The free ferry crosses the ship channel to the island — mind the big-ship traffic and the pass’s current on the change. The back bays go skinny at low water. For the wider Gulf, see our Gulf Coast tide guide.
