St. Petersburg Tide Chart

St. Petersburg — the Sunshine City on Tampa Bay’s western shore — fishes a gentle mixed tide of around two and a half feet, small water that still moves the bay’s flats and passes on a daily rhythm.

The pattern

A mixed semidiurnal tide with around two and a half feet of range — easy Gulf water. The passes and the Skyway’s cuts run the strongest current; the back bays lag the open Gulf by an hour or more.

Bay fishing

Snook haunt the passes and dock lights, redfish tail the flats on the high water, and trout work the grass edges. The bridges give up tarpon in season and sheepshead on the pilings.

Boating

The bay goes skinny outside the marks — mind the spoil islands and bars at low water. The passes can run fast on the change. For the wider Gulf, see our Gulf Coast tide guide.
