Santa Monica Tide Chart
Santa Monica — with Venice Beach just down the sand — fishes a four-foot mixed semidiurnal tide off the pier, the classic Southern California rhythm that sets the surf-fishing and grunion calendar.

The pattern
Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around four feet of range — gentle SoCal water. The tide’s timing still rules the surf zone: the beaches fish best on the push.
Pier and surf
The pier’s pilings hold surfperch, corbina, and halibut; grunion runs swarm the sand on the high spring tides after full and new moons. Leopard sharks cruise the shallows in summer.
Boating
The bay stays mellow, but the afternoon sea breeze builds chop — morning crossings to Catalina run smoothest. For the region, see our Southern California tide guide.
