The pattern
Two highs and two lows daily with around ten feet of range — big Cape Cod Bay water. The tide floods Plymouth Harbor and the bay’s broad flats, then drains them hard on the ebb — that’s the moving water the stripers hunt.
Pilgrim shore and whales
Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II draw the history crowds, while whale-watch boats run to Stellwagen Bank for humpbacks all summer. The harbor’s jetties and the bay beaches fish for stripers and blues; see our best time to fish tides guide.
Boating
The harbor entrance is well marked but the bay’s flats are wide — mind your depth outside the channel at low water. Summer brings heavy tour-boat and sail traffic. For the region, see our New England tides guide.
