Provincetown Tide Chart
Provincetown — the tip of Cape Cod’s hooked arm — sees nine-to-ten-foot semidiurnal tides that flood the bay’s flats and feed the whales of Stellwagen Bank.

The pattern
Two highs and two lows daily with nine to ten feet of range — among the biggest in New England outside Maine. The bay side transforms completely between tides; the ocean side at Race Point fishes a different rhythm.
Whales and fish
Stellwagen Bank’s humpbacks, finbacks, and minkes feed where the tides pile bait — the whale-watch fleet reads the current like a forecast. Inshore, stripers work the Race, bluefish blitz the bay side, and tuna lurk the bank’s edges in season.
Boating
The bay’s huge exchanges move serious water through the harbor entrance — time it kindly. The backshore is exposed Atlantic: respect the surf. For the region, see our New England tide guide.
