The pattern
Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around six feet of range — big outer-coast water. The tide swings past the sea stacks off Rialto and floods the Quillayute, timing the salmon and surf alike.
Sea stacks and surf
Rialto Beach’s sea stacks are a low-tide wonder — our tide pooling guide covers exploring them safely. The breaks here are cold-water and uncrowded. The Quileute fish these waters for salmon — see our best time to fish tides guide.
Boating
The Quillayute River bar is a genuine ocean bar — cross it only with local knowledge and near slack, and respect the weather. Outside is the full Pacific. For the region, see our Pacific Northwest tides guide.
