The pattern

Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around six feet of range — solid Oregon-coast water. The tide floods Tillamook Bay through the jettied entrance and drains it hard on the ebb — crabbers plan drops around the change.

Crabbing capital

Tillamook Bay is Dungeness crab country — pots soak from charter boats and the jetties. Salmon and sturgeon seasons run the bay and river mouths; our crabbing tide guide covers timing drops on the tide.

Boating

The bar at the bay entrance is a real ocean bar — cross only near slack with the Coast Guard’s bar report in hand. Inside, the bay is forgiving but shallow outside the channels. For the region, see our Pacific Northwest tides guide.
