The pattern

Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around three feet of range — modest Treasure Coast water. The tide flushes the lagoon through Fort Pierce Inlet, and the current runs hardest at the South Jetty on the change.

Lagoon fishing and inlet wrecks

The Indian River Lagoon’s grass flats hold snook, redfish, and spotted sea trout year-round, with tarpon moving through in summer. The inlet jetties attract jacks, snapper, and grouper on the nearshore reefs; see our best time to fish tides guide.

SEALs and the Treasure Coast

The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum sits on North Hutchinson Island where frogmen trained in World War II, and the offshore wrecks of the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet still give up gold coins after storms. For the region, see our Florida tides guide.
