The pattern
Two highs and two lows daily with around three feet of range — modest Florida east-coast water that still swings the inlets hard. The tide stacks up in the canals, and the Intracoastal runs on its own delayed clock.
Inlets and reefs
Port Everglades inlet is the area’s fish highway — snook on the jetties, tarpon rolling in summer, sailfish and kings just offshore. The nearshore reefs give up snapper and grouper on moving water.
Boating
The inlet can stand up rough on an outgoing tide against an east wind — time it kindly. The Intracoastal threads the whole coast behind the barrier island. For the region, see our Southeast Atlantic tide guide.
