The pattern

Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around eleven feet of range — big northern Puget Sound water. The tide floods Port Gardner and Possession Sound, and the currents run hard through the narrows on the change.

Navy town and Jetty Island

Naval Station Everett is the Navy’s Pacific Northwest homeport, and the waterfront hums with carriers and ferries. Jetty Island’s sandy beaches are a summer escape reachable only by foot ferry — salmon stack at the Snohomish mouth on the flood; see our best time to fish tides guide.

Boating

Port Gardner is busy commercial water — mind the Navy security zones and the ferry lanes to Mukilteo and Clinton. The Snohomish River bar and sloughs shift; cross near slack. For the region, see our Pacific Northwest tides guide.
