The pattern
Two highs and two lows daily with around sixteen feet of range — huge Down East water, among the biggest in the United States. The tide floods Cutler Harbor and the Bold Coast’s coves, then drains the wharf’s floats the full swing — lines need room for sixteen feet.
Working harbor and Bold Coast
Cutler’s lobster boats and the town’s fish pier define the waterfront, and the Bold Coast trails — cliff-top paths above the Fundy swells — start just up the shore; see our best time to fish tides guide for the Down East windows.
Boating
Cutler Harbor’s entrance is narrow and rock-bound — favor slack water and daylight, and mind the Fundy fog that can close in fast. Outside is open water with the Bay of Fundy’s currents. For the region, see our New England tides guide.
