Ventura Tide Chart
Ventura — the Channel Islands gateway city between Santa Barbara and Malibu, where the Ventura River meets a classic Southern California beach town — keeps a mixed semidiurnal tide of around five feet, the rhythm behind its surf breaks and island ferries.

The pattern
Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around five feet of range — classic Southern California mixed tides. The tide swings past the harbor jetties and the river mouth, and the minus low tides of winter expose the reef breaks at their best.
Channel Islands and surf
Island Packers ferries leave Ventura Harbor for the Channel Islands — Anacapa and Santa Cruz rise offshore. Surfers work C-Street and the point breaks on the pushing tide; see our best time to fish tides guide for the halibut and corbina windows.
Boating
Ventura Harbor’s entrance can shoal — favor the marked channel and mind the surf on the bar in winter swells. Crossings to the islands are open-ocean runs; watch the wind against the ebb. For the region, see our Southern California tides guide.
