The pattern
Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around twelve feet of range — and the two daily highs can differ dramatically. Port Valdez’s deep narrows move serious water on the exchange.
Sound fishing
Silvers stack the narrows and the bay’s points in season; halibut and rockfish wait over the deeper structure. Pink salmon runs fill the harbor’s creeks — the town’s famous free fishery.
Boating
Prince William Sound is spectacular and serious: glaciers calve, weather builds fast, and the tides run big. Check marine forecasts with the table. For the state, see our Alaska tide guide.
