Tybee Island Tide Chart
Tybee Island — Savannah’s beach at the mouth of the Savannah River — rides a seven-foot semidiurnal tide, among the biggest on the South Atlantic coast, that floods the marshes and swings the surf twice daily.

The pattern
Two highs and two lows daily with around seven feet of range — big Georgia-coast water. The tide floods the back-river marshes deep and drains the ocean beaches flat, twice a day.
Beach and marsh
Whiting, pompano, and sharks cruise the surf on moving water; redfish tail the flooded spartina at high tide. The back rivers give up trout and flounder around the creek mouths.
Boating
The Savannah River entrance is a ship channel with shifting shoals — mind the big ships and the strong ebb. The Intracoastal threads the marshes behind the island. For the region, see our Southeast Atlantic tide guide.
