The pattern
Two highs and two lows daily with around seven feet of range — the Georgia coast’s big water. The island’s rivers and the St. Simons Sound run hard on the change.
Marsh fishing
Redfish tail the flooded spartina on the high water — the island’s signature sight-fishery. Speckled trout and flounder work the creek mouths; the beaches give up whiting and sharks in the surf.
Boating
The sound’s currents run strong — time the inlets kindly. The Intracoastal threads the marshes behind the islands. For the region, see our Southeast Atlantic tide guide.
