San Juan Tide Chart
San Juan barely has tides at all — often under a foot and a half — but the island’s lagoons, reefs, and harbor mouths still answer to the water’s small daily moves.

The pattern
A semidiurnal tide with a range that rarely exceeds a foot and a half — among the smallest in U.S. waters. The two daily cycles are modest and even. What moves water here besides the moon: trade-wind swell and the occasional tropical system, which can overwhelm the tide entirely.
Tarpon and surf
The lagoons — Condado, San José, Torrecilla — hold tarpon that roll at dawn, and the moving tides nudge the bite even at this scale. The north coast’s reefs serve up winter surf when the swells arrive; tide stage matters most at the shallow reef breaks.
Harbor and boating
San Juan Bay’s entrance carries cruise ships and the tidal current on the change — small boats should mind the channel and the ferry lanes. The cays and islets offshore are the day-trip playgrounds. For the region, see our Puerto Rico & Caribbean tide guide.
