Chatham Tide Chart
Chatham — at the elbow of Cape Cod where the Atlantic meets Nantucket Sound — rides a five-foot semidiurnal tide, the engine behind its striped-bass fishery and the Monomoy seal colony.

The pattern
Two highs and two lows daily with around five feet of range — big outer-Cape water. The tide floods the Monomoy flats and rips through the inlets and around Monomoy Point, shifting sandbars constantly.
Bass, blues, and seals
Striped bass and bluefish blitz the rips off Monomoy on moving water. The seal colony draws great white sharks in summer and fall — the flats are a wildlife show as much as a fishery.
Boating
Chatham’s inlets and bars shift every season — local knowledge and the marked channel are essential. Fog is frequent; the tide waits for no one. For the region, see our New England tides guide.
