The pattern
Two unequal highs and two unequal lows daily with around ten feet of range — big Puget Sound water. The tide floods Sinclair Inlet and the narrows, and the currents run hard through Rich Passage on the change.
Shipyard and ferries
The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard is the town’s landmark, and the Seattle ferry crosses on the same tide you’ll fish — the USS Turner Joy museum ship sits at the waterfront. Salmon and cutthroat work the inlets; see our best time to fish tides guide.
Boating
Sinclair Inlet is busy Navy water — stay clear of security zones and the ship traffic. Rich Passage’s currents can surprise small boats on the ebb. For the region, see our Pacific Northwest tides guide.
