Baltimore Tide Chart
Baltimore — the Inner Harbor city where the Patapsco River meets the upper Chesapeake — answers to a small semidiurnal tide of around a foot and a half, where the wind moves nearly as much water as the moon.

The pattern
Two highs and two lows daily with only about a foot and a half of range — small upper-Chesapeake tides. Here the wind moves more water than the tide does; a stiff blow can swing levels a foot either way.
Harbor fishing
The Inner Harbor and Fort McHenry shorelines give up striped bass, white perch, and catfish — an urban fishery on the rebound. The tide’s small swing means current, not height, is what you fish. See our best time to fish tides guide.
Boating
The Patapsco’s shipping channel carries big traffic — small boats stay to the edges. The upper Bay is shallow outside the channel; mind your depth. For the region, see our Chesapeake Bay tides guide.
