Marathon Tide Chart

Marathon — the heart of the Florida Keys, spanning the Seven Mile Bridge — runs on diurnal Gulf-side tides: one high and one low a day of around a foot and a half. Note the NOAA station sits at Vaca Key on the Florida Bay side, so times run a little different from the Atlantic side.

The pattern

One high tide and one low tide per day with around a foot and a half of range — classic diurnal Gulf. The station is at Vaca Key on the Florida Bay side, so use these times for the bayside flats; the ocean side runs on its own clock.

Bridge and dolphins

The Seven Mile Bridge spans the turquoise water just south of town, and the Dolphin Research Center makes Marathon famous. The bayside flats give up bonefish and tarpon in the one daily moving-water window — our best time to fish tides guide covers it.

Boating

The Keys are shallow water — mind the marked channels and the coral heads. The Seven Mile Bridge opening and Moser Channel carry boat traffic between bay and ocean sides. For the region, see our Florida tides guide.
