The pattern

Two highs and two lows daily with around four feet of range. Winyah Bay’s river mouths and the North Inlet estuary run their own delayed rhythms behind the barrier islands.

Bay and inlet fishing

Redfish and speckled trout haunt the marsh creeks and oyster rakes on moving water; flounder hug the sandy drops. The jetties give up bull reds and tarpon in season.

Boating

Winyah Bay’s jetties guard a ship channel — mind the big ships. The estuary’s creeks go skinny at low water. For the region, see our Southeast Atlantic tide guide.
